Fashion Editor at Large, Fashion editor and Consultant.
Melanie Rickey is a writer, editor and consultant who has covered fashion since 1996. As an editor at The Independent, Daily Telegraph and Sunday Times, Rickey covered the work of Alexander McQueen and Phoebe Philo, and chronicled the first digital boom and bust. After writing for Vogue and the London Evening Standard and covering the catwalk shows for Fashion Wire Daily, Rickey became one of the launch editors on Grazia and its digital component, Grazia Live. In so doing Rickey helped transform the way fashion is covered in print media into weekly frequency, then applied it digitally into a daily and hourly proposition. Rickey also consults for brands across the luxury and high street sectors, advising them on digital editorial strategy. Rickey sits on the NEWGEN panel that supports and funds emerging British talent for London Fashion Week. Today, you will find her writing on fashion, design and culture for among others The Guardian and Grazia, and sharing her expert view and encyclopaedic fashion knowledge on her Fashion Editor at Large website and on Twitter.
She is married to retail consultant Mary Portas, and has a son.
Anita Sheth - Fashion Intern At Large
I’m Anita, Melanie Rickey’s assistant at Fashion Editor at Large. Since graduating in 2012 with a degree in Fashion Journalism, I’ve been working my way around the fashion circuit and eventually landed on Melanie’s doorstep in Primrose Hill. I'm now learning the ropes and finding my voice alongside an industry expert. I previously spent a year and half working as a Retail Trend Analyst at global fashion forecasting company, WGSN where I honed my trend-spotting eye and built up knowledge of markets, product offerings and trends across the world. I have a penchant for perfectly painted nails and can’t get enough of cobalt blue.
